ABOUT MATT
Matt Ivy Richardson (he/they) is a trans and queer science fiction and fantasy author and editor based in Naarm/Melbourne. His short fiction and novellas experiment with unusual points of view and focus on the lives of queer and gender diverse characters in speculative settings, and the ways queerness informs lives.
As an editor, Matt specialises in line and copy editing, making manuscripts of all sizes as polished as they can be with a specific focus on clarity and consistency. He treats editing like teaching, assisting authors to learn as many skills as possible for their future works.
They are the former lead editor for Meridian Australis and have edited AUSTRAL 2024 and AUSTRAL 2025. His speculative fiction works can be found in Baffling Magazine, Apparition Literary Magazine, AUSTRAL 2024 and much more.
He is currently working on his debut novella, a queer post-apocalyptic fantasy about grief, longing, ghost possession, and revenge.
